YouTube is great, but it’s important to not neglect other social media platforms as you grow your channel and connect with subscribers all over the world. Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Periscope, Twitter, and other platforms are just as important as YouTube, but navigating all of them can get confusing. We’re here to help with a series of tutorials on different social media platforms, to help you maximize your online presence and keep you connected with your subscribers. Today: Pinterest!
The average Pinterest user spends 14.2 minutes pinning every time they log in, and Pinterest grew by 97% in 2014 alone. 80% of all Pins are Repins, and Pinterest pins last 1,600 times longer than Facebook posts, so you could be reaching potential new subscribers up to six months after you’ve pinned something. Why miss out on THAT?
Create a Business Pinterest Account: Pinterest’s Business and Website Account option allows you to analyze your pins to see which worked better, promote posts, rich pins, article pins, and much more. You can merge your personal and business accounts, if you like, and migrate all your followers, pins, and boards with you.
Group Boards: Invite your subscribers to contribute to group boards, which allow you to interact with your subscribers to see what THEY like and what kind of videos THEY want you to make.
Add the Pin It Button: Embed the Pin It Button on ALL of your photos, posts, videos, etc. It takes just a few seconds, just like creating MagicLinks links, but pays off in the long run. Don’t forget the “Follow Me” button, too!
Share Quality Content: Nothing is more frustrating than a pin that’s just a picture, no link, no description, no nothing. Make sure you’re posting clear, concise content that won’t leave your followers frustrated.
Copyrights Are Important: Pinterest etiquette says you should always link back and credit the original source of a Pin, wherever possible. Report false, re-sourced content – especially if someone is stealing your work without crediting you! Adding a watermark to your images can help you preserve your brand.
Merge Platforms: Pinterest accounts can be linked up to most social media sites, including YouTube, LinkedIn, Twitter, Google+, and Facebook.
